Grantham Town FC have begun their efforts to form a new girls’ team for the 2014/15 season.

Several training sessions have been held already with a committed group of 16-20 girls who have shown interest. The sessions have been very positive with the girls proving to be very quick learners and they are already taking on board the ethos of Grantham Town’s youth set-up to produce technically gifted young players.

The sessions have so far been run by the club’s head of youth development and Saturday under-18s manager, Eddie Humphreys.

However due to his commitments at the club, there is a now requirement for a permanent manager and coach to take the girls forward.

Eddie said: “This a fantastic opportunity for either an experienced coach or an aspiring one, to join what is now a rapidly expanding youth set-up.

“These are exciting times at Grantham Town and that can be seen in the growth of the youth set-up over the last 18 months.

“We have six teams and I am getting players requesting trials on a daily basis. The girls have shown a lot of potential, are keen and committed, and we have attracted some very good players.

“The facilities here are excellent and we can provide the necessary coaching courses for the right applicant should that be necessary.”

If anyone is interested in the role, they should contact Grantham Town’s youth secretary, Jackie Humphreys, via email at jackie.humphreys@nottingham.ac.uk or on 07912 384178.
