GRANTHAM Town lost out in the battle for the second promotion spot in the Evo-Stike League Division One South on Monday.
A legion of travelling Gingerbreads supporters witnessed their side go down 2-0 at Rushall Olympic.
The game was played in blazing sunshine and high winds on a rock hard, sloping pitch. The home side mastered the conditions in the second half after an evenly balanced first 45 minutes.
Grantham went behind in the 56th minute and conceded a second time five minutes later.
The Gingerbreads battled till the end, searching for a late goal or two, but it was not to be with Rushall’s defence swiftly dealing with any danger.
