Grantham Town’s first foray of the season into the FA Cup competition sees the Gingerbreads hosting Clipstone at The Meres tomorrow (Saturday).
And for Nottinghamshire’s Northern Counties East League Division One side, it is their first season in the competition in the club’s 86-year history. Despite the ‘Cobras’ having a cracking start to the season, Grantham’s joint manager Jimmy Albans said a good result was there for the taking.
He said: “The Clipstone game is all about our attitude on the day. If we get that right, we should win the game.
“Our application and professionalism has to start from the moment we arrive at the ground. We must go out there with the mentality that it is our game to win.”
The Gingerbreads go into the Cup game on the back of a 0-0 draw at home to Ashton United and a confidence-boosting 3-0 away win at Nantwich Town on Tuesday night.
Albans praised his side’s forwards Greg Smith, Jordan Hempenstall and Alex Simmons: “The great thing is that the sort of forward play we are seeing is encouraging the lads elsewhere to score.”
Kick-off tomorrow is 3pm.
