Grantham Town return to action at The Meres when they take on Whitby Town at The Meres tomorrow (Saturday).
Down to 10 men for most of the game, the Gingerbreads staunchly held Ilkeston FC to a 1-1 away draw on Saturday, with the Derbyshire side then going on to share the points with league leaders FC United of Manchester in midweek – a sign of the quality of Town’s effort at the weekend.
Tomorrow’s visitors ‘The Seasiders’ have only won three league games on the road all season, the last being against Rushall Olympic back in October.
Their player/manager Darren Williams made more than 200 appearances for Sunderland, mostly in the Premiership.
Without a win for five games, in their last four, 16th-placed Whitby Town have lost 3-0 at Curzon Ashton, drawn 0-0 at home to Halesowen Town, lost 2-1 at Marine, and drawn 1-1 at Buxton.
The Seasiders have only scored eight times since the beginning of the year, with former Huddersfield Town midfielder Dale Hopson bagging two of them.
Released from Hartlepool United three years ago, tireless forward Steven Snaith has also only scored twice so far in 2015.Ex-Boston United’s Niall Doran has an eye for goal, as does fellow midfielder Lee Mason.
• Grantham Town this week announced that their collection for the British Heart Foundation at their last home game raised £146, to which the club donated £50 of unclaimed 50/50 draw money.
Gingerbreads chief executive Keith Horton said: “We are very pleased to work with a number of charities throughout the season.”
