Grantham and District Saturday Football League’s president Bill Hannigan stepped down from his post this week and handed the baton to Dennis Green.
Bill made this decision as he is moving away from the area due to work commitments. The league and some of the teams chipped in to give him a leaving present of a picture of 100 years of his beloved Arsenal Football Club.
Bill has been involved with local football for many years, both as a manager and referee, and has been a member of the league and the local referees’ association.
He has been at the helm since former president Terry Bly passed away in 2009, and has helped move the league along in leaps and bounds. Bill has also sponsored the league cups and also local football teams.
He will still be involved with the Grantham league as he is now a life member on the committee and will always be welcome to any of the games and committee meetings.
New president Dennis has big shoes to fill but brings a wealth of experience. He has been a player, referee and chairman of the Grantham league, and has carried out many rolls on the committee.
Both Dennis and Bill were instrumental in keeping the league going and Dennis is passionate about the local league and grassroots football in general.
