Harrowby United Ladies’ and Girls’ Football Club open day was held at the Environcom Stadium on Sunday – and was a great success.
Girls of all ages were trained during the two hour session by three coaches supplied by Harrowby United – Simon Walker, Bradley Butler and Steve Hollingworth – and two from Lincolnshire FA.
Harrowby United LFC director of ladies’ and girls’ football Paul Durrands said the session initally got off to a bit of a nervy start with none of the girls quite sure what to expect, but he said as it progressed the players’ confidence grew and grew.
Paul said: “The smiles on their faces got bigger and bigger and by the end of day all the girls looked as though they had know each other for years.
“The session was based around introduction to football and how much fun and social interaction can be gained out of playing this game of football.
“I’m very confident we succeeded in getting this through to the girls.”
Paul said the next step was to start fortnightly training sessions at Dickens Road.
Another open day is planned for Sunday, November 29, 11am to 1pm.
