Players from Colsterworth Colts under-16s ended an 11-year era at the club with a football tour to Spain – prior to their move to Harrowby United.

The lads enjoyed a four-day trip with a visit to Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium, and played matches against two local clubs.

Colts triumphed 1-0 in a tight game against CD Almeda, but lost by the odd goal when they played CF Bufala.

The Colsterworth team began as five-year-olds just wanting to play football, and six of the original line-up still remain.

In their time, the Colts have won numerous titles and cups throughout the age groups, including those in the Grantham League, Melton League and Peterborough League.

Colts coach Mark Bland said: “I would like to thank all the players who have played in this era, and all the supporting parents and fans. And a big thanks to Barry and Rachel for supporting and running the club.”

And after 11 successful years, the Colts are now moving on to pastures new at Harrowby United.

Mark said: “Harrowby United is the natural progression for the lads, supporting a club with a big future.

“After speaking and seeing all their plans for the future for local talented footballers progressing the footballing ladder, we have teamed up as Harrowby Uniteds Colts under-17s to support the first team, the Saints and under-18s.”
