An early goal from Billy Bilton put Ponton ahead and a second was shortly added by Rui Pires. Owen Devine made it three after a lone run down the wing before captain Ayden O’Brien began his scoring streak and bagged himself a hat trick before half time.

Ponton continued piling on the pressure from the start of the second half when Jaydon Devine slotted one past the keeper. Saxilby finally managed to break through the Ponton defence and score. A fortunate deflection from an O’Brien corner put Ponton back on track and took Ponton’s tally to eight.

A disallowed goal from Ponton’s Bobby Macdonald, gave him the determination to get on the score sheet, which he managed a few minutes later, scoring from just inside the area. Owen Devine got his second from a long range shot and Macdonald scored his second shortly afterwards. Pires’ patience paid off and his second goal came five minutes from the end.

Although, the home side battled until the final whistle, it was not enough to stop O’Brien scoring his fifth goal of the game with seconds to spare.

Great Ponton’s man of the match was Daniel Simmonds.
