Harrowby United 1
Leicester Nirvana 6
Nirvana moved back to the top of the Premier Division with an emphatic victory over a depleted Arrows squad.
The first half was somewhat low key with the title chasers having the bulk of the play, while Harrowby struggled to create openings despite some good build-ups.
Will Gonga shot wide from Nirvana’s first chance before they took a 13th minute lead when Tendai Chitiza turned in from Pearson Mwanyongo’s low centre from the left flank.
A stunning strike from Reece Morris doubled the visiting advantage after 29 minutes. The diminutive wide man received the ball on the right of the box and jinked inside before sending a fierce shot beyond Jonny Hotson’s reach into the far corner.
Harrowby keeper Jonny Hotson saved well from Lamar Parkes before the Arrows had a couple of chances towards the interval. Skipper Billy Stubbs was unable to connect with an inviting delivery from the right and Scott Webb turned smartly in the box to force James Flinders into a full length save.
Harrowby did get a goal back four minutes into the second and a good one it was too, with sub Craig Bridge turning on the edge of the box to curl a shot out of the reach of Flinders.
Nirvana responded by stepping up a gear. Gonga turned in a Mwanyongo cross after 59 minutes and six minutes later Mwangongo put his name on the scoresheet with an angled drive from Ryan Walker’s defence-splitting pass.
Gonga chipped wide after beating two defenders and then Alex Biggs shot off target after Walker and Gonga combined.
Nirvana’s fifth arrived a quarter of an hour from time when Ash Day fed Morris whose cross from the right was smashed home by Walker.
The scoring was completed by Alex Paval’s sublime chip after Morris and Chitiza opened up the home defence with six minutes to play.
