GRANTHAM Town stayed cool at the top of the table with a 3-2 win at Romulus today (Saturday) thanks to late substitute Sean Cann.
Jamie McGhee gave the Gingerbreads the lead on 20 minutes. Strike partner Paul Grimes doubled the advantage eight minutes later.
Romulus pulled a goal back through Curtis Wynter two minutes before half time.
Careless defending allowed the home side to equalise six minutes into the second period.
But Grantham substitute Cann came on and restored his side’s lead almost immediately in the 78th minute.
By this time Romulus were down to 10 men and the Gingerbreads lost one too when Phil Watt received his second yellow card of the match.
The top three of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South remains the same. Grantham still lead by eight points from Ilkeston FC who beat Shepshed Dynamo 5-0 at home. Third placed Carlton Town won 2-0 at Newcastle Town.
