GRANTHAM Town ripped Boston United apart to win 2-0 in the final of the Lincolnshire County Shield on Tuesday night.
The Gingerbreads dominated from start to finish and the disparity in the two sides’ respective league statuses was far from evident.
A Rhys Lewis goal in either half was the difference on the scoresheet, but Grantham had endless chances to add to their tally throughout, with Boston rarely getting a sniff.
Blue Square North side Boston fielded an “experimental” side but one that still contained experienced players, whilst the Gingerbreads gave some of their regular substitutes a full 90 minutes.
Town deservedly went in front midway through the first half when Lewis fired past United keeper Ricky Drury from close range.
Grantham continued to pepper the Boston goal after the break and a flurry of attacks finally culminated in Lewis knocking in his second in the 69th minute.
