Members of Grantham Town’s first Gingerbreads Soccer School were invited to a presentation evening at the MCS Centre in Trent Road on Saturday.
The youngsters, all aged between six and 12 years old, have been training at the club’s first six-week soccer course, which has proved to be a great success, at The Meres on Saturday mornings.
They attended the presentation with their families for an evening of food and fun before they were awarded their certificates by Grantham College marketing and media officer Laura Taylor.
The soccer school is run in conjunction with the town’s college and the Gingerbreads Soccer School logo was designed by BTEC Extended Diploma in Digital Design and Graphics student Sara Harper. The logo is printed on T-shirts and water bottles which were presented to the soccer school’s first graduates.
Laura said: “I was very honoured to be invited to the presentation evening and was asked to present the young lads, who have worked so hard for the last six weeks, with their certificates.”
Further support for the soccer school comes from chartered accountants ESP Business Solutions, established by Wayne Searle, who sponsor the Grantham Town under-8s team.
Wayne was the official photographer on the night of the presentation and his son took part in the inaugural soccer school.
Wayne said: “Unlocking the potential in the local community is an important part of the ESP Business Solutions philosophy and, as such, we are proud to support the Gingerbreads Soccer School.”
The next Gingerbreads Soccer School commences at The Meres stadium on Saturday, January 10.
The six-week course is suited to both boys and girls, aged six to 12, and will enable players of any experience to enjoy the atmosphere of training in the stadium, with a fun environment whilst learning new footballing skills.
Sessions run every Saturday, starting at 10.30am, and are run by FA-qualified coaches. Cost is £4 per session or £20 for all six.
