Witham Wheelers took part in the latest round of the Lincolnshire Cyclo-cross League at Bardney last Sunday.

With the usual Bourne Woods unavailable, the Bourne Wheelers event venue was switched, with recent heavy rain and strong winds making the going really tough on the exposed course.

Riding only his second cross event of the year, Karl Baillie finished a good fifth overall in the under-16s, with Jenny McAndrew third girl and 13th overall, Robert McAndrew 17th and Eleanor Crawford 23rd. Jessica East was the only club rider in the under-12s and finished 20th.

Sean East was the best club finisher in the senior race in 39th, from clubmate Graham McAndrew in 44th.

l Karl Baillie was promoted to the fastest group for the final round of this year’s Manchester Regional Track League on Friday night.

He finished a respectable fourth in the elimination race and then won the 30-lap points race comfortably, taking the second and fourth sprint to triumph by three points.

Karl put in an impressive late sprint from near the back of the pack to claim fourth in the 50-lap scratch race.

l Six Wheelers took part in the second round of the Winter MTB Series at Thetford on Sunday.

In the over-39s, Dave Moulds finished 35th, Mark Kokocinski 36th, John Clifton 59th, and Paul Green 82nd after two punctures. Gary Symonds and Jon Beere finished 44th and 56th respectively in the 18 to 39 age category.
