Grantham Cricket Club held its annual awards dinner at Gorse Lane last Saturday.
More than 70 players, committee members and sponsors attended to mark the end of a very successful season at the club.
Chairman Ian Mihill led the prize giving alongside team captains Gareth Bennett, Adam Shaw and Mark Donellan.
First team awards: batting – Martin Parmley, bowling – Neel Stephenson, fielding – Matthew Wing, players’ player – Adam Parker.
Second team awards: batting – Adam Shaw, bowling – Alex Hackney, fielding – Ryan Wilson-Law, players’ player – Alex Hackney.
Sunday team awards: batting – Matthew Wing, bowling – Danny Ashley, fielding – Rory Johnson, players’ player – Harvey Stevens.
Thursday team player of the year – Paul Johnson.
Clubman of the year – Adrian Wing.
Chairman’s award for outstanding contribution to the club – Adam Shaw.
Chairman Ian Mihill announced the news that four of the club’s junior girls have been selected for the Lincolnshire County Squad.
He also made it be known that from November 1, former captain of Lincolnshire County Cricket Club, Mark Fell, who has coached at county and national level, will be joining the club as head of cricket.
The club is looking to expand both the junior and senior sections further next season, which will lead to having three teams on a Saturday and two on a Sunday, as well as a new coaching partnership with the King’s School.
