Three people and one club from Grantham and the surrounding area have been shortlisted for this year’s Lincolnshire Sports Awards.

Former Olympian pistol shooting bronze medallist Barry Dagger has been shortlisted for the Lifetime Achievement Award after more than 30 years representing the county.

Kesteven Rugby Club is up for Club of the Year, and Sophie Allen has been shortlisted for Sportswoman after a fantastic year’s swimming.

Joshua Brown has also been shortlisted as Young Sportsman of the Year following an outstanding year in which he has been selected to represent England in athletics at Schools International fixtures.

Lincolnshire Sports Partnership events officer Marc Rhodes said he looked forward to meeting them on the night of the awards: “The number of shortlisted candidates from the Grantham area is fantastic. The panel were delighted to shortlist them.”

The Lincolnshire Sports Awards is an annual event organised by Lincolnshire Sports Partnership to recognise sportsmen and women across the county in sport and physical activity. The winners will be announced at the awards evening on Thursday, November 7, at Lincolnshire Showground.

Tickets priced at £50 per person are available from Lincolnshire Sports Partnership and include a three-course meal and wine reception.
