Grantham Badminton Club men’s third team fielded several juniors and were well beaten at home by Devon in Division Two of the Newark League.

Devon only mustered two pairs, both of whom won all their rubbers which led to Grantham’s 6-3 defeat. Grantham youngsters Carl Jennings and Andrew Watson won a couple of games to force deciders, but to no avail. Rob Howbrook played with Josh Gould, and Declan Hill with Daniel Watson.

Grantham’s mixed second team also took on Devon, at home, in Newark League Division Two. A very close result in an exciting match left Grantham on the wrong side of a 5-4 scoreline.

Captain Jaz Gilbert picked up two rubbers with Chung Chan, and Bex Davison and Martin Peat notched up two more, but Laura Graves and Adrian Ackroyd were unable to add to the tally.

On the plus side, Grantham’s fourth string men’s team ran out convincing winners at home against Lincoln Albion 3rd in Newark League Division Three.

Captain Ian Witham with Matt Whittle led the way, winning all three rubbers. Dean Patel with Daniel Watson won two, as did Brian Coyle with Mike Woodhouse.
