BELVOIR Karate students enjoyed their latest grading day.

The day consisted of members from all Belvoir clubs taking their next grades, all of whom put in great performances and passed their respective levels. A few exceptional performances were rewarded with students jumping a grade.

The students were tested on several aspects of karate, these being bag work and combination techniques, basic partner work and performance of Kata, with the higher, more experienced students fighting three bouts against different opponents.

Sensei Graeme Walden (4th Dan) presided over the day assisted by Sensei Ian Simpson (2nd Dan).

Graeme said: “The standard at the grading was excellent which reflected the hard work everyone had put in. It was an energetic day with a high standard of karate, the effort made was brilliant.

“It is lovely to see our students progress through the belts in such an enthusiastic manner. It is a very exciting time for Belvoir Karate as it goes from strength to strength.”

Belvoir Karate currently holds five classes a week with a further two in the pipeline.
