Bowls enthusiasts from Helpringham and Billinghay were amongst those from across the country who made their way to Skegness as Magna Vitae hosted the annual EBF Bowls Tournament.

The competition took place at Skegness North Greens on North Parade, and was broken down into separate categories which covered open singles, open pairs, mixed pairs and open rinks of three.

The open singles was won by Trevor Bannister of Helpringham, whilst he and his wife finished as runners-up in the mixed pairs.

Billinghay’s Ray Lockey, accompanied by Vivien Shepherd (Coalville) and Mike Smith (North Hykeham), triumphed in the open rinks of three competition.

There were a mixture of local players taking part along with 141 entries from Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Warwickshire and Cambridgeshire.

The tournament, which was sponsored by the Skegness East Coast and Wolds Hospitality Association (SECHWA) and Boston Bowls Supplies, was followed by a presentation.
