A 14-year-old Priory Ruskin Academy student has a bright future in the world of boxing, according to his Grantham Amateur Boxing Club coach Dean Fardell.

Contesting only his second bout for the club, Arnas Valuckis overcame Hucknall Boys’ Club teenager Ryan Cash by a large points majority at St George’s WMC, Hucknall, last Friday night.

Arnas lost his first fight in April when coach Dean said he got bullied a bit, but he put that experience behind him and bounced back in style.

Dean said: “On the back of his loss, he has come good again. He defended very well, and kept moving away and countering.”

He dominated the fight throughout, with the highlight being a good right upper cut in the second round, and by the third his opponent was fading.

Dean said Arnas was a pleasure to train and the club was delighted with the win, coming at the end of a “cracking” season.

Dean said: “He’s going to be a good lad. There is no reason why he can’t make a good career as a boxer. He has a bright future.”
