Belton Park’s scratch team contested the Lincolnshire League Final at Grimsby Golf Club.

Winners of the South League, Belton took on their counterparts from the North, Cleethorpes.

In a very close contest with high quality golf on view in all of the matches, Cleethorpes came out on top by four matches to two. The winners for Belton were Harry and Ed Glenn, and Jack Diment and Steve Mitchell.

At the prize presentation dinner after the event, Belton team captain Nigel Harris was presented with the South Lincolnshire winners shield by county president Jim Lammin.

l Nine teams took part in the annual ladies and seniors Am-Am match in what proved to be a very close competition; eight of the team scores were within five points.

The weather on the day was superb with most of the game being played in ‘shirtsleeve order’.

Prize giving followed a light lunch with prizes presented by ladies’ and seniors’ captains Joy Stepney and Trevor Collis.

Results: 1 Olga Ebsworth, Dave Dobney, George Crowforth and Peter Skelton 81pt, 2 Ann Shaw, Helen Cowe, Bill Brogan and Peter Rollings 80, 3 Jean Sutcliffe, Jools Taylor, Derek Little and Willie Baudrum 79.

Belton Park ladies took to the fairways to raise £270 for Macmillan Cancer Support

Instead of the traditional coffee morning, the ladies played a charity alliance in aid of Macmillan.

Results: 1 Issie Guest, Pam Mackey and Enid Maltby, 2 Jools Taylor, Becky Lloyd and ghost player, 3 Julie Hamer, Shelley McClelland and Sue Addis.

Other ladies’ results: Medal, Division One – 1 Annette Fordham, 2 Jan Johnson, 3 Pam Mackey; Division Two – 1 Becky Lloyd, 2 Kathleen Bell, 3 Enid Maltby. Ladies Brooches – 1 Jan Johnson and Olgs Elbsworth 43, 2 Vicki Grindal and Jean Sutcliff 42, 3 Lucy Morley and Anne Shaw 40.

l Belton Park mixed team enjoyed a 7-1 win at home against Greetham Valley.

Results: Sheila and Colin Mason won 4&3, Sue Walker-Sherriff and Danny Coyle won 2&1, Yvonne and Derek Bashford won 5&4, Ina Wood and Ian Mason won 4&3, Annette Fordham and Stewart Boylan won 2&1, Nicola Routledge and Greg Begy won 1 hole, Jacqui and Peter Barson won 3&2, Jane Renfrew and Richard Brighton lost 3&2.

l Members and guests of Belton Park took to the fairways to take part in the annual John Peberdy Am-Am.

The cup was presented to the club by Judy Peberdy in 2001 in memory of her husband John who was a long standing member of the club.

The superb condition of the course was matched by the fine autumnal weather and the golfers took advantage with some fine scores being recorded.

Gents’ captain Tony Nichson, along with Judy and Richard Peberdy, presented the trophy to the winning team of Mark Cooper, Tom Cooper, Rob Overton and Jake Craddock.

l Belton Park seniors beat Stoke Rochford 6½-1½ at home last Tuesday.

Results: Trevor Collis and Willie Badraun won 2&1, Alan Addis and Mike Goodacre won 2&1, Brian Martin and Terry Bond drew, Steve White and Keith Brown won 2&1, Dave Dobney and Graham Chesebrough won 2&1, Graham Secker and Paul Skelton lost 4&3, John Carey and Derek Little won 2&1, Dave Martin and Ray Shore won 4&3.

Belton seniors competed in the Colin Ryan Cup and the second round of the Ian Lindsay Trophy.

The Colin Ryan cup is an 18-hole net medal competition which saw Nigel Beaumont and Dave Jackson record net scores of 63 and 65 respectively. Brian Martin returned net 69 from a handicap of seven.

The Ian Lindsay Trophy is a 36 hole gross medal competition played over 2 sessions. The overall winner was Ray Clark with Steve White a close second.
