Belton Woods returned home triumphant from the Lincolnshire Ladies’ County Autumn Meeting.

The team, comprising Kim Davies, Lisa Liu, Steph Lee and Lesley Perrin, brought home the Lincolnshire Shield after they recorded the best three net scores from a team of four.

Kim also won the Brocklesby Cup for the best individual net score, with a 74.

l Jackie Wilson won the Belton Woods ladies’ Par Comp final with a +5, on countback from Carole Stothard. Wendy Stewart was third with +1.

The Myles Foster trophy was won by Pam Watson with a gross 84, and the Tony Roberts Trophy was claimed by Shirley King with net 71.

Seniors

Belton Woods seniors contested the Marshall’s Monthly Medal and second round of the Memorial Cup this week.

Colin Thornton emerged the winner of the Memorial Cup with a net 146 earning him a fine two stoke victory over Tony Slipper (148(. Third place went to Tin Win with 149.

Captain Pat Stanford expressed his thanks to Mike North who generously donated £5 to the captain’s charity for each player who had beaten his score over the two rounds of the competition. Mike’s fine gesture raised £95.

Colin Thornton won the medal competition by three shots with a net 69.

STOKE ROCHFORD

Seniors

Forty-three Stoke Rochford seniors competed in the annual individual Autumn Cup and unusually there were no outrageously high scores.

The winner was David Hamilton with 36 points on countback from second placed Brian White, also 36 points. Third with 35 points also on count back was Eddie Malloy. Brian Ayto, Greg Ewart and Eddie Plant all also scored 35 points.

Ladies

Winner of the Sunday Medal was Avis Griffin with net 72, ahead of runner-up Phillippa Smith (75) and third placed Judy Rawson (76). Lowest gross was Sue Booth with 87.

Burroughs Crystal Trophy was played for on Saturday with Jo Burroughs joining the ladies for afternoon tea after the golf to present the trophy, which she donated to the Ladies’ Section in 1979.

In first place with a net 71 was Pamela Watson. Runner-up was Joan Lennard on countback from Sheila Dugmore who was third, both with net 76. The scratch prize was won by Avis Griffin with gross 90. A raffle raised £45 for the Junior Section.

SUDBROOK MOOR

The Senior Matchplay League season concluded its 22nd year history with a social presentation celebration at Rutland County Golf Club.

Sixty-eight senior golfers converged from the five member clubs – Gedney Hill, Lincoln Pottergate, Boston Kirton Holme, RAF Coningsby and Sudbrook Moor – to enjoy a convivial pairs’ Betterball Stableford in which a mix of the five clubs were drawn into pairs and card-marking fours.

Blessed with perfect autumn weather, the top scores were spread across the clubs. A scorecard of 45 stableford points was returned by a delighted Joe Green, from Sudbrook Moor, with RAF Coningsby’s John Curtis. Sudbrook Moor’s senior captain Pete Armstrong, with Keith Cable from RAF Coningsby, were third on 43 points.

Sudbrook finished third in the Best Team of the Day awards with 426 points.
