There was a big attendance for Stoke Rochford seniors’ Winter Warmer last week, which was a ‘Boogie Woogie’ individual competition.
Winner with 61 points was Brian Ayto, and Ron Kent was second on countback with 59 points, his score being boosted by his hole-in-one on the 17th. Third, also 59 points, was Mike Thornton.
With three rounds to play, overall leader is Brian White with 46 points, from his brother Phil White on 44, and Brian Ayto (38).
To date, 79 nine seniors have played in at least one of the 15 rounds.
Sudbrook Moor’s February Saturday roll-up stableford in the Rainbow Series was won with a magnificent score of 45 by Christopher Wilmot which resulted in a handicap cut.
It was also an excellent day for Onie Ison on 40 and Jeff Ward, who plays off 19, carded 39 points, as did Andy Newman. A 38-point card came from Philip Edwards and Barry Pogson, with Barry Rohland on 37 and Phil Hall and Steve Davis on 36.
Wilmot now leads overall with 80 points, ahead of Jeff Ward 77, Andy Newman 74 and Barry Rohland 73. Last month’s leaders Dick Marshall and Caroline Davis have slipped to 69 and 70 respectively but are still very much in contention.
Barry Pogson won the entire twos pot.
l Amanda Roberts retained the Williamson Medal Trophy title, returning a card of four over her 17 handicap in the Tuesday spin-up. One shot adrift was Maureen Bradford, with Sue Hutton and Linda Whittaker a further two behind in third and fourth spots.
