Lorna Jackson and Caroline Davis shared the ladies’ first place in the January Saturday Qualifier.
With both returning cards of 36 stableford points, a countback saw Lorna’s back nine take the overall winner’s spot. Fiona Hutton was third on 35.
Playing off 32 handicap, Jack Williams returned 37 points to win first prize in the high handicap junior section. Runner-up with 34 was Joseph Ablewhite.
Winner by one point in the gents’ section was Michael Coupland who carded 40 points.
Best of Category Four was Clive Breedon with 39 on countback from Phil Davy. Bruce McFarlane was fourth on 37.
Others in the prize frame were Martin Corby, Brian Cox, Paul Burrell, Dick Marshall, Neil Baker, Graham Mackinder, Craig Machin, Malcolm Edwards, Barry Rohland and Tony Hall.
The twos sweep was shared between Bruce MacFarlane, Martin Corby, Jon Machin and Craig Machin.
Stoke Rochford seniors held their annual meeting last Wednesday, at the end of which retiring captain Mick Rance presented his replacement’s jumper to newly elected Barry Coop. Mike Nixon was elected vice-captain.
After the meeting, seniors played the latest round of their winter warmers series, which was a pairs foursomes competition. Winners with 38 points were Phil White and John Batty, on countback from Alan Dolby and Wilf Stephenson. Third with 36 points were Jim Price and Peter Gill.
Phil White took the overall lead with 33 points, with Brian Ayto and Alan Dolby lying equal second on 30.
