Belton Woods Golf Club men’s second team captain Jim King has enjoyed a memorable season.

An outstanding run of results by the team earned them a league promotion before Jim steps down as captain.

And now he has added an individual win in the annual Tony Roberts Trophy competition.

The second team won seven of their eight matches in the South Lincs Golf League, third Division, against South Kyme, Thorney Lakes, Sutton Bridge and Gedney Hill.

It means they will play in division two next season.

The retiring captain, seated, centre, with teammates said it was a tremendous effort from all the players called on to represent Belton Woods to ensure promotion.

Seventy golfers took part in the Tony Roberts Trophy medal competiton (maximum 18 handicap allowance) played on the Lakes Course.

Jim King won with a net score of 74, followed by Jonathon Stapleton, and Ryan Smith.
