MATT Haynes won the Belton Woods Club Championship at the weekend.
Sensationally, he added the title to the Belton Park Club Championship which he secured earlier in the season.
The Belton Woods competition was contested over two days with the winner being the golfer with the lowest gross score.
The first round was played on the Woodside Course on Saturday and the final round on the Lakes Course the following day. The order of play on the second day was decided by the results from day one, high scores going out first and lower scores going out later.
Testing conditions over the two days produced many challenges for the golfers, but Matt was a clear winner with level par rounds of 73 and 72 for a total of 145. His outstanding achievement gave him an eight-shot lead over Dan Fowler who finished with a total of 153. Dan won the lowest net prize with 143.
Matthew is a groundsman at Belton Woods and had a successful career with the Belton Woods Junior Golf Academy. He plays off +2 and has been a regular Lincolnshire county first team player for the past two years.
His next big challenge is with his Belton Park team-mates when they take on Woodhall Spa in the county finals at the end of the month.
