CLASSIC superbike racer Jason Dixon was back in action on track at Snetterton over the weekend.
Riding his Clarion Suzuki, Jason competed in rounds eight and nine of the Golden Era race series.
Saturday qualifying was held in dry conditions but Jason could only manage 10th quickest on the new Snetterton 200 layout, putting him in the third row on the grid.
Jason and his team changed the gearing after qualifying which improved matters and he finished eighth in race one. A couple of suspension changes for the second race helped him to improve to sixth.
Jason was fourth quickest in Sunday’s free practice which boosted the team’s confidence for the day’s two races.
The Suzuki got off the line well in the first race and Jason held position for a couple of laps. Standing water affected grip but Jason settled into fifth place after six laps.
The four bikes in front of him slowed when rain began to pour, but Jason was in his element and overtook two of them to move up into third place.
As he exited Corrams corner, the rider in front missed a gear and ran wide, allowing Jason to take advantage and cross the finish line in second, his best result to date this season.
He failed to get a decent start in race two and dropped a couple of places, but fought hard throughout to finish in sixth. Jason now lies fourth overall in the championship.
The race series is being televised and will be shown on Sky channel 413 (Motors TV) at 9pm on July 12.
Jason will next be in action at the Rockingham round of the championship on July 28 and 29.
