Grantham Tennis Club’s Mini fixtures continued at the weekend with the Orange team triumphing comfortably at Caunton.
The team, who are unbeaten all year, won 8-1 and comprised Heidi-Louise Roberts, James Peace and Finlay Jones.
The Reds also faced a Caunton team and like the Oranges came out victors with a score line of13-3. The winning team were Jake Collen, Luke Collen, Matthew Barry and Aaron Fleckney.
In adult tennis, the men’s veteran first team faced Boston 2nd at home. Neil Robertson, Karel Meuwissen, Barry Priestley and Robert Isaac enjoyed a 5-3 victory.
In the indoor league, Andrew Isaac, Josh King, Kathrin Garment and Liz Hewitt faced Woodthorpe 4th. After one of the closest matches of the season, Woodthorpe scraped out the victory 31 games to 29. The second veteran’s team managed to draw 4-4 against a strong Tealby side. The team were Paul Kennedy, Mike Roys, John Legard and Mike Tromans.
Last Sunday, Tom White played in the Caunton under-14 boy’s tournament, losing in the semi-finals to eventual winner Leo Fieldhouse from Sheffield. He amassed 35 ranking points and moved up to 15th in the county for his age group.
