World master Sakagami sensei 8th dan was at the Grantham Ji-Shin Wado Karate Club last Wednesday for grading and training with club members.

Sensei Sakagami was very pleased with the standard of the students who all passed their grades, with most gaining second classes, and a few firsts.

Gradings: 9th kyu red belt – Coby-Lee Emms, Max Lygo, Billy Downs; 8th kyu yellow – Isabelle Linsley, Scarlett Lee, Sitara Patel; 7th kyu orange – Oliver Croston; 6th kyu green – Jude Wright; 2nd kyu brown – Ellie Wills, Andrew Tonge.

Club head coach Angie Emms said she was very proud of all her students: “They have all worked very hard for the last six months, or longer, for their belts.

“I would like to say a big thank you to all the dedicated parents, who bring their children week in, week out. And the icing on the cake is watching not only the children’s faces when they pass, but the parents so full of pride in what has been achieved.”

Another club member, Duncan Virtue (pictured), was rewarded for all his six very hard years of work to attain his black belt when he was presented with his dan grade certificate by Sensei Sakagami whilst attending a course at Derby last Saturday.
