Bassingham racing driver Jack Harvey, along with Mike Shank and Michael Andretti, have unveiled the Indy Car that he will drive in his debut Indy Car race – the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 next Sunday (May 28).
Michael Shank Racing have joined forces with Andretti Autosport to field the number 50 car of rookie driver Jack, who cut his motor racing teeth in karts at Fulbeck airfield and Brandon but will now be lining up on the grid alongside the likes of Fernando Alonso – a fellow Indy Car debutant.
Boasting six wins and 35 podiums as an IMSA sports car team, Michael Shank Racing has also competed in Formula Atlantic, Grand-Am and the World Endurance Challenge.
Jack commented: “I am very excited to unveil the car. It’s something we’ve been working on for a long time and I’m glad we’re finally able to present it with all our sponsors and partners.
“We’re very happy to have AutoNation on board who have been supportive of this dream of mine for over a year now; so it’s been a relationship that has been growing and building for a while now. They have decided to paint the livery pink in support of a very important cause; their Drive Pink campaign to raise breast cancer awareness.
“With Gap Guard coming on board and adding some yellow to the car, the team did a great job making the pink and yellow flow well through the livery. And, just recently having SiriusXM join us is the icing on the cake. Obviously with Mike, it’s great to see his partners following him over from Columbus (Ohio). I’m looking forward to sharing this experience with Mike, Michael (Andretti), all of our partners and everyone else who has come together to make this opportunity possible.”
