BARNSTONE saloon car racer Garrie Whittaker recorded his fifth straight win in the latest round of the Kumho Tyres BMW Championship at Castle Combe last Monday.
Driving his trusty BMW E36 M3, it was the first time Garrie had raced at the Wiltshire circuit, but that proved to be no obstacle whatsoever.
Garrie posted 1min 14.455sec at an average speed of just under 90mph for the 1.85-mile circuit in qualifying to put himself on pole position for the 30-minute race .
He made a blistering start in the race and by the end of the first lap he was already beginning to pull away from the huge pack of cars behind him. Garrie was soon amongst the back markers but kept a good distance also from his nearest challenger Ian Crisp, also in an M3.
Garrie covered 24 laps of the circuit in the allotted time to take the chequered flag and recorded a new lap record in the process of 1:13.983.
Brands Hatch is the destination for Garrie this weekend, where he will be hoping for two more wins to cement his place as championship leader.
