Motocross fans are in for a treat this Sunday when Sproxton is the venue for a meeting of classic bike racing.

This sight and sound spectacular will be done in style because all the machines taking part are colourful classics, and some of the riders are members of the fairer sex.

The 22-race programme includes championship rounds for the Greeves and the ClassMXRider.Com Pre-1968 series. The meeting is organised by Northampton Classic MX Club which is playing a leading role in bringing the excitement of classic off-road bike action to the area.

Clerk of the course Colin Hill said: “We have about 70 riders taking part including Pre-1968 champion in 2014 and 2015 Aaron Graves from Maldon, Essex. He has been all but unbeatable these past two seasons, but there are plenty of championship contenders hot on his heels.

“The girl riders testing their stamina part are Maddison Harvey and Charlotte Bloor. Both are sidecar passengers. The fitness level required to be a sidecar passenger has to be experienced to be believed. Maddison and Charlotte are brave girls and a credit to their generation.”

The classic four-stroke and two-stroke singles and twins from the 1950s to the 1980s fire up for practice at 9.30am. First race 10am. Parking is free, and a food stall will be on site.

Adult admission is £5, under-15s free. Traders wishing to book a stand should contact Colin Hill on 01536 521006. This championship level event promises a full day of thrilling sport to appeal to all ages.
