An up-and-coming motorcycle racer from South Witham made his debut for his new team at Brands Hatch over the weekend.
Ryan Kinning has signed to Team RaceTek race and completed his Thundersport 650 Supertwins opening race at the Kent-based racetrack.
Twenty-one-year-old Ryan’s parents own a motorcycle training school and he first rode a bike aged six at a village fete.
He started to practise on a geared motorcycle on farmland owned by his grandfather and he cut his teeth at racing as an eight-year-old at Donington Park.
Last weekend’s outing saw Ryan competing in the Bridgestone Supertwins series on a 650cc Kawasaki race bike. And he made a great start to the season.
After a day of testing on Friday, Ryan finished in a very credible 11th and 15th places in rounds one and two respectively, from a field of 40.
RaceTrek mechanic Martin Carter said the team was proud of what Ryan achieved in his first race meeting: “He really pushed himself from the start, set his personal best lap time at 52.33 seconds, and showed a sound understanding of the track and a real maturity in the split-second decisions he made during the races.
“There’s certainly lots more to come from Ryan – the next race is at Donington Park on the 12th and 13th of April and we are already looking at what we need to do to get a top 10 position.”
