Members of Grantham Swimming Club claimed 39 medals at the Coventry Open at the weekend.

It was the final long course test before swimmers head to the Age Group Midlands next month.

The most promising swim came from Maddie Barnes in the 200m breaststroke, an amazing race which saw her first in her age group with a time which ranks her second in the East Midlands and 17th nationally.

Lara Hawkes swam well and broke to Lincolnshire county records in 200m breaststroke and 200m individual medley. Freya Colbert won three gold medals and broke two club records in 400m IM and 100m freestyle.

Imogen Raistrick swam an excellent 100m backstroke, winning a silver medal and setting a club record in the process. Abigail Farkas set a club record in 50m butterfly and just missed a club record in the 100m freestyle.

Abbie Philips won her 50m butterfly, smashing the club record, and Molly Colbert set a new club record in 50m freestyle. Leah Roughan claimed a club record in the 200m IM while Sophie Culpin set a new one in 50m and 100m butterfly, as well as in 100m freestyle.

Amongst the boys, William Hawkes clocked personal bests in 100m freestyle, and 50m and 100m butterfly, setting new club records in all three events. Caleb Mackey fought well in the 200m butterfly to record a new club record.
