Grantham Swimming Club achieved huge success at this year’s Lincolnshire County Championships – winning 107 medals – to record their best ever result.

Forty medals were gold, 29 silver and 38 bronze – a substantial progress over last year’s performances.

Grantham’s medal tally was led by Leah Roughan with a staggering 26 gold, seven silver and five bronze medals. William Hawkes was next with nine gold, four silver and one bronze, with Sophie Culpin third in the medal table with three gold, one silver and three bronze.

Seventeen club records were broken in total during the championships by Roughan, Hawkes, Culpin, Hannah Ford, Lara Hawkes, Kendall Wilkins and Cameron Chow.

Chow, Issie Schofield and Maddie Barnes all achieved Midland Qualifying times for the first time and now are set to join six other Grantham swimmers at the Midlands Championships in June.

Grantham Swimming Club finished in third position overall behind Lincoln Vulcans and Louth.
