Members of Grantham Swimming Club enjoyed a good night at Lincoln where they competed in the first round of the Lincolnshire Senior League and finished as runners-up.

A club record was broken by Kendall Wilkins in the 100m butterfly, and Molly Colbert stormed the 100m freestyle to become the second fastest girl in the event in the club’s history.

Archie Tagg, Cameron Chow, Freya Colbert, Katie Hitchcock, Alisha Tyers, Imogen Raistrick, James Dobney, Eleanor Lythgoe and Caleb Mackey also achieved steady improvement, achieving personal bests and contributing to the final points score.

l A small group of swimmers travelled to Ponds Forge in Sheffield to compete at the prestigious Deventio Level One Meet.

Lara Hawkes swam some great race,s culminating in her breaking the Lincolnshire county long-course record for 200m freestyle for a 10-year-old girl.

Her brother William (12) also beat his own county record in the 200m breaststroke, winning gold in the event.

Other siblings Molly and Freya Colbert also performed well, both breaking club records. Molly achieved two further Midlands qualifying times.

Cameron Chow also showed fighting spirit in a 50m pool with a new club record in 200m freestyle.
