Cliffedale Chandler’s Christmas schools tournament was held at The Meres leisure centre on Saturday, in conjunction with GAPS and the Grantham and District Table Tennis League.

More than 50 children entered from Cliffedale, Great Ponton, Denton, Croxton Kerrial, Colsterworth, Belmont, National, Huntingtower, King’s, Priory Ruskin, St Hugh’s, KGGS and Walton Girls.

The action-packed afternoon included many first time tournament players and was followed by trophy presentations with participation certificates for all entrants.

Trophy recipients were: Under 9 Boys 3rd - Jai Mistry Moulton (Cliffedale), 2nd - Jake Sutton (Cliffedale), 1st - Sam Oliver (Great Ponton); Under 9 Girls 3rd - Alice Rossington (Barrowby), 2nd - Emily Winfield (Huntingtower), 1st - Stefania Popa (Cliffedale); Under 11 Boys 3rd - Connor Auckland (Cliffedale), 2nd - Frazer Winfield (Huntingtower), 1st - Joshua Kettle (Cliffedale); Under 11 Girls 3rd - Amber Halsey (Cliffedale), 2nd - Jessica Maltby (Cliffedale), 1st - Evie Milford (Cliffedale); Under 13 Boys 3rd - Trafford Mason (Priory Ruskin), 2nd - Daniel Duggan (Priory Ruskin), 1st - Flynn Connolly (Cliffedale); Under 13 Girls 2nd - Sarah Henderson (KGGS), 1st - Alex Robinson (Walton Girls); most improved on the day - Under 9 Boys - Tomas Miller (Colsterworth), Under 9 Girls - Cerys Horner (Belmont), Under 11 Boys - Ethan Wen-Lefman (Barrowby), Under 11 Girls - Uisun Shin (Cliffedale), Under 13 Boys - Mitchell French (King’s)

l Grantham is continuing to develop a fantastic grassroots base of table tennis players with GAPS working closely in schools and Cliffedale Chandlers Table Tennis Club providing excellent training practice at the purpose-built table tennis centre at The Meres.
