Five students from Grantham and Corby Glen Tae Kwon-Do Clubs have attained black belt status.

The quintet were promoted to first degree black belt after an examination grading at the Tae Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain headquarters in Bristol.

Elliot Arnold, Brianna Marment-Payne, Mikahil Azad, Stasey Lopez and Ben Dawson were tested on their fighting skills, self-defence moves and patterns drill, along with a verbal examination on their knowledge of the martial art.

Club instructors Malcolm Scholes and Jill Pearce were pleased to welcome guest of honour Mayor of Grantham Ian Selby to the presentation evening at the King’s School last week.

It was a blast from the past for Mayor Selby, who trained under Malcolm at the Guildhall in the mid-1980s, and he presented each recipient with their certificates.
