Grantham Tennis Club men’s first team hosted Louth 2nd in the Lincolnshire League.

The local team carried on their strong start to the season with a comfortable 12-0 victory. The team comprised Andrew Isaac and Richard Cragg, Will Bourne and Jon Cummins, and Jon Quinn and Joe Patton.

The team’s next match is on Sunday, also at home, against Grimsby.

The under-9s team played at Horncastle on Sunday and enjoyed an excellent match tea afterwards.

Grantham Tennis Club players Paul White and Mike Burnett represented Lincolnshire in a men’s over-50s county match at the weekend. A long trip to play Dorset at Bournemouth started well with Paul winning

his singles against their number two ranked player. Mike, playing at number one, had a tough match against the home team’s opposite number and British captain, and came off second best. With the Lincs pair of Dave Jones and James Newton also losing their doubles, the first round saw the team finish 2-1 down.

Lincs needed to win both of the second round doubles and with only Paul and Mike triumphing, the team narrowly lost 3-2.
