Grantham Tennis Club’s only success story of the weekend saw the Oranges play at Boston in the Lincolnshire mini leagues and come away with two wins.

Hugo Dunn and Josh Harris played Deeping and managed to claim a 3-2 victory. They then went on to play Boston B and managed to achieve a more comfortable 3-1 triumph.

Meanwhile, the senior second mixed team played away to Farnsfield. Grantham consisted of David Horton, Liz Stokes, Ella Tapson, Will Kappen, Jo Jones and Chris Roughan.

The team performed well, but the home side proved too strong and took a comfortable victory in a difficult match for the visitors.

Grantham’s mixed first team were also away, to West Bridgford. Comprising Sarah Patton, Rob Start, Andrew Isaac, Sam Parker, Ed Milner and Megan Jones, the team battled away in the ice cold conditions.

A good display of tennis from both teams saw the West Bridgford side walk away with the victory.

Grantham ladies’ fifth played at home to a strong Mansfield side in cold conditions. The team were Angie Tapson and Jette Rasmussen, Ann Roughan and Belinda Thomas, and Marie Harris partnered debutant Lucy Cullen.

Grantham performed well with a strong side, with the scores neck and neck at the end of each rubber. However, it was the Mansfield side that were able to scrape a narrow victory.
