TENNIS: Grantham club teens win comfortably

Grantham Tennis Club boys’ 16&U team faced a good Boston A at the weekend.

The team consisted of Joe Patton, Lewis Picker, Adam Tapson and Elliot Smith-Rasmussen.

The boys won all of their matches, singles and doubles, to complete a comfortable victory.

The ladies’ first team played their opening match in the Lincolnshire Doubles League against a strong Appleby Frodingham side on the grass court at the weekend.

The ladies comprised of Lianne Tapson and Sarah Patton, Sam Parker and Sophie Fletcher, and Ella Tapson and Melanie Bloodworth, and scraped through with a 5-4 win.

Grantham men’s second team travelled to Nottingham Castle on Sunday morning.

The team of Rob Start, Richard Cragg, Simon Cormer, John Quinn, Adam Tapson and Phil Lawton comfortably triumphed 14-4 for a well needed first victory of the season.

Grantham Red A team played this weekend at home to Tennis Buddies.

Grantham consisited of John Sheardown, Marc Blake, Ted Robson and Henry Robson, and comfortably won 15-1.

Grantham B team played away to Boston with the team of Alfie Cooper, Ryan Priestly and Alice Szokalska.

Grantham battled well but were unfortunately defeated.

Grantham Orange A team played Grantham Orange B team at the weekend.

The A team consisted of Hugo Dunn, Josh Harris, Toby Cullen, Arnaav Bajaj, and in the B team were Imogen Clough, Bethany Aust, James Timms and Sam McCarthy.

The A team prevailed, coming out as 7-3 victors.
