Grantham Tennis Club ladies’ third team played away to a strong Farnsfield side in Division Five of the Nottinghamshire League.
The pairings were captain Elaine Maplethorpe and Sue Taylor who won 36-16, Carole Binz and Wendy Bland lost 20-29, and Lorraine Walton and Tracy Hobson triumphed 30-24, for an overall 86-69 victory.
The ladies’ second team played at home to a Musters B side and triumphed 18-0. The Grantham side consisted of captain Jan Ibberson, Pam Aust, Wendy Steward, Megan Jones, Jackie Wilson and Sue Edmonds.
l Grantham’s men’s thirds played away to Bourne with the team of captain Colin Walton, Nigel Birch, Kane Goswell, Paul Kimberley, Mark Ottey and Neil Robertson.
They played some great tennis and were solid from both the baseline and the net, and managed to take a comfortable 7-2 victory.
l Grantham’s mixed first team played at home, with Retford the latest opposition to visit the new Arnoldfield facilities.
The standard of tennis was high and, captained by Lianne Tapson, the team comfortably secured a 9-0 victory.
The winning team consisted of Lianne Tapson, James Drennan, Kane Goswell, Megan Jones, Ivo Marsik and Mel Bloodworth.
l The ladies’ fourth team travelled away to Caunton at the weekend, in search of another win.
The ladies played well in the hot sunshine and managed to prevail with an encouraging 16.5-3.5 victory.
The team comprised captain Jo Carstairs, Katy Dines, Sue Cox, Angela Anderson, Liz Stokes and Laura Dixon.
