Grantham Tennis Club men’s team play-off final will be played at their Arnoldfield base on Sunday morning, when they will take on the might of West Bridgford.

The club welcomes members and interested spectators to pop along and support the team of Richard Surtees, Richard Cragg, Andrew Isaac and Jonathan Cummins as they look to be promoted into the regional leagues. Play commences at 11am.

Grantham’s ladies have just beaten West Bridgford to be promoted to the national leagues, so the men will be hoping to be able to do the same for the regionals.

l Karel Meuwissen, Barry Priestley, David Todd, Mike Roys, Olly Tagg and Johnny Ng were all part of the Grantham men’s summer fourth team that played at home to a strong Caunton side at the weekend.

Despite the matching being close and it going to four tie-breaks, Grantham suffered an 18-0 defeat. A tough defeat for the with the scoreline not reflecting the match.

l Richard Cragg and Richard Smart, Paul White and John Quinn, and John Cummins and Simon Cormer were the pairings that played at home to a strong Eastgate side at the weekend. The Grantham side were unfortunate to lose 5-4 overall in a very close match.

l Grantham first mixed team claimed another victory at the weekend.

The team consisted of Nathan Gunning and Lianne Tapson, captain Sarah Patton and Andrew Isaac, and Richard Cragg and Megan Jones, and walked away with a comfortable 17-1 victory against Musters A team.

Another great win for the Grantham side, undefeated in the division, they are hoping to clinch promotion.
