Grantham Tennis Club men’s fourth team played against top of the table Sutton Bonington at the weekend.

The team consisted of David Todd, Barry Priestley, Peter Elphick and Matt Street, plus two debutants – Kevin Jones and Johnny Jago.

The team played some very good tennis in the cold weather, but with both teams determined to bag victory, the in-form Sutton side were able to close the game out, claiming a narrow 57-51 victory.

Lincolnshire over-40s played Northamptonshire in the Indoor County League and triumphed 3-1.

The pairings were Lianne Tapson and Jane Hunter, and Sam Parker and Melanie Bloodworth.

Lianne and Jane won both of their doubles, with Sam and Melanie winning one, and all-in-all was a great performance from the Lincolnshire side, with every player from Grantham Tennis Club.

Grantham’s third indoor mixed team played against David Lloyd West Bridgford’s equivalent side at the weekend.

The Grantham team consisted of Rob Isaac and Mark Farmer for the men, and Jo Jones and Sue Cox for the ladies.

After a strong performance from both sides, David Lloyd were able to claim a 37-20 victory.
