Grantham Tennis Club first men’s team managed to narrowly win their third match of the season, 58 games to 50.

Playing at home against Musters on Sunday, the team consisted of Andrew Isaac and Richard Cragg, Richard Smart and James Drennan and Thomas White and Mark Harris.

It was a less than comfortable win as the Musters side put up a good fight, but it was a well fought contest.

Grantham ladies’ third team travelled to Sutton Bonington on Saturday for their first match of the winter season and won 61 games to 47.

The team comprised Elaine and Rachel Pulfree, Jackie Thomson and Karen Pye-Smith, and Angie Tapson and Lorraine Walton.

A special mention went to Angie Tapson who, stepping up and playing her first match for this team, helped them secure a very good victory.

It was an excellent start to the season for the ladies who will be looking to make it two wins out of two when they visit Burton Joyce B team this weekend.

Grantham’s Greens, consisting of Leon DeRoca and Harry Chambers, narrowly lost at Boston B in the Lincolnshire league.

But with other results going Grantham’s way, they have still managed to qualify as runners-up and will progress to the next stage where they will face Boston’s A team, which could prove to be a difficult match.
