TENNIS: Grantham under-14s clinch win after shootout

Grantham Tennis Club 14-and-under boys took on a strong Boston side at the weekend.

They played really well as a team, supporting each other in their matches, and came on top in what was a really narrow match after a tiebreak shootout which Grantham managed to clinch.

The team comprised of Henry Wood, Noah Briggs, Matt Jagger and Aidan Oliver

The win followed on from their victory at home against Bourne a couple of weeks ago when they won all of their matches with the team also including Owen Shaw and Seb Newton, .

Grantham’s second mixed team played and won comfortably 34-23 against Magdala last weekend.

Results: Jackie Wilson and Megan Jones lost 8-6, Karel Meuwissen and Jon Quinn won 9-6, Jackie Wilson and Jon Quinn won 8-6, Karel Meuwissen and Megan Jones won 11-3.

Grantham’s young mini orange team travelled to play a rather more experienced Boston team at the weekend.

The team of Toby Cullen and Joshua Harris put in a very strong performance and managed to walk away with a comfortable 4-1 victory.

Grantham under-12s travelled to Deeping at the weekend with a team consisting of Jacob Cullen, Jamie Wallace, Oliver Thomas and Aaron Fleckney, and showed some quality tennis in what was a very tense and close match.

With the match drawing to the end, the two teams were tied, with Grantham eventually losing narrowly in a tiebreak shootout.
