Grantham Tennis Club men’s first veteran side travelled away to a strong Rustons team at the weekend.

Grantham consisted of captain Karel Meuwissen, David Blanchard, Neil Robertson and Barry Priestley. They played well with a great display of tennis and managed to walk away with a comfortable 7-1 win.

Grantham’s mixed team, captained by Lorraine Walton, narrowly lost 10-8 in sets to a very strong Nottingham Castle side. They comprised Martin Garrett, Holly Richardson, Colin Walton, Sheena Gordine, David Todd and Lorraine Walton.

The team will need to secure a win in their next match in order to avoid relegation.

Grantham’s third mixed team played against a strong Ilkeston. Skipper Pam Aust fielded as strong a team as possible with Dom Newcombe, Jackie Wright, Peter Elphick, Wendy Stewart and Paul Kimberley.

The Grantham side battled showing some great quality of play to ensure a very comfortable 7-1 win over the opposition.
