MOTOR RACING: Garrie picks up prestigious Golden Helmet award

BARNSTONE saloon car racer Garrie Whittaker attended the Autosport International Show at the NEC last Thursday to pick up the Golden Helmet award.

Garrie received the award for registering so many race wins in the Classic Thunder Championship and on his way to winning the season-long Kumho Tyres BMW Championship.

The award is presented to the racing driver in the country who has recorded the most wins in a single season, and Garrie topped the tree in 2011 with 22 overall victories.
