Kesteven made the long trip to Grimsby and came away with a well earned win in a thrilling match.

Grimsby took an early lead with a converted try after four minutes.

Kesteven responded well with some fine combination work between Olly Wood and Dan Turner. Wood put in a clever kick through which Turner collected to go in for the try. Whittaker converted.

Then the same combination worked again as Wood put in a cross kick and again Turner collected to score. Whittaker converted a second time.

Rob Sheardown scored and Odams extended the lead and secured the bonus point try.

Grimsby rounded off an entertaining first half with a converted try to narrow the gap to 24-14 at the break. Sam Durrance replaced the injured Will Pert before the break then Jack Berry made his debut as a replacement for Templeton.

The second half saw Grimsby continue on the attack and they added a third try before Purvis completed a front row hat trick, with his try giving a 10-point lead with 30 minutes remaining.

Grimsby reacted well and took the game to Kesteven, adding another converted try with 10 minutes left.

Grimsby scored with two minutes on the clock to take the lead 33-29 before Ks snatched the win with a dramatic try by Tom Miles, converted by Whittaker, which crowned a fantastic match with 11 tries scored. Turner was deservedly voted man of the match.
