SWIMMING: Oliver's massive Midlands medal haul
KING'S School swimmer Oliver Bitowt put in an outstanding series of swims at the Midlands County Championships held at Coventry over the last two weekends.
KING'S School swimmer Oliver Bitowt put in an outstanding series of swims at the Midlands County Championships held at Coventry over the last two weekends.The 13-year-old Lincoln Vulcans member collected an impressive haul of medals totalling eight golds and four silvers.
Oliver took top spot in the 13 years finals of the 100m freestyle, 100m and 200m butterfly, 200m and 400m individual medley, 100m and 200m backstroke.
He also recorded the fastest time across all ages in the 400m freestyle – winning in 4min 12sec.
Oliver won silver individual silver medals in the 200m freestyle and 100m breaststroke, with a further two silvers coming from the 11-14 years boys' relay team in both the 4x100m freestyle and 4x100m medley.
Oliver is now in training for the National Age Group Championships which take place in Sheffield next month.
He has qualified in 10 events as a 14-year-old and is currently ranked third nationally for both the 400m and 800m freestyle events.
Silver medal position in the two relay events secured places for him and his teammates in the Nationals.
The Vulcans boys' relay team are ranked fifth in the country in both events.
Oliver is on both the ASA England Talent Development Programme and the Lincolnshire Elite Athlete Programme (LEAP).
