WITHAM Wheelers' Jim Coleman collected more points towards his first-category road racing licence with a third place finish in the Steve Rigby Memorial at Wakefield on Sunday.

WITHAM Wheelers' Jim Coleman collected more points towards his first-category road racing licence with a third place finish in the Steve Rigby Memorial at Wakefield on Sunday.Jim bridged a gap to three chasers with a couple of laps of the 63-miles remaining and pulled away to finish alone behind two breakaway leaders.

In the previous Sunday 's Lichfield City road race, Jim only managed 12th spot after getting snarled up at the finish.

Two Wheelers were among 481 competitors in a triathlon on Sunday, consisting of a 400m swim, 12-mile bike ride and a three-mile run.

Stefan Lawrence finished 28th in 54min 5sec and Simon Cocker was 144th in 61:49.

The first dry and warm conditions of the year led to most riders improving their season's times in the Tuesday League 10 time trial on Gorse Lane.

Junior Jacob Storey improved by almost 90 seconds to beat all the seniors in 24:19.

There was a good turn-out for the club's first Go-Ride and training races at Barkston Heath last Wednesday.

In the seniors' race, last year's third-place rider Will Hare took the overall win, with Neil Sentance taking the sprint.

Results: Under-12 (one lap) - 1 E. Crawford, 2 Charlotte Ross, 3 Lucy Thompson.

Under-16 (10 minutes + one lap) - 1 George Thompson, 2 Ben Wright, 3 Oliver Fensom, 4 Jake Olle, 5 Matthew Ellis, 6 Henry Thompson, 7 Jake Clare, 8 Peter Barnes, 9 Peter Cocker, 10 Harry Bellars, 11 Alice, 12= Reece McCracken/Joseph Clipsham.

Senior (30 minutes + five laps) - 1 Will Hare, 2 Neil Sentance, 3 Rick Lister, 4 Patrick Owen, 5 Dave Ostler, 6 Paul Conneely, 7 Anthony Conneely, 8 Tom Mendham.
